Snowman Paul thinks his young friend Dan is very lucky to have a mother. She knows when he needs a hug, she makes him feel better when he’s poorly, she’s there to make sure he has enough to eat (even when he’s camping in the garden)  – in fact, she’s the best mother on earth! And when Dan asks who Paul’s mother is, the answer isn’t at all what he expects…

One of a series, this appealing book celebrates both Mother’s Day and Earth Day. Written in simple rhyming couplets, it’s a gentle and comforting description of all that the best mothers are and do. But it doesn’t stop there – as Snowman Paul recalls his origins, long before the snowy day that Dan built him, he reminds us that, in a very important way, we are all one big family who share the same mother – Mother Nature.

The skilfully executed watercolour illustrations by Joanna Pasek bring the characters to life with warmth and humour, and also capture some of the drama and beauty of the natural world. Although aimed primarily at an American readership (it’s ‘mom’, not ‘mum’), the important message in Mother’s Day With Snowman Paul is sure to have universal appeal.
