We were recently approached by Jenna, a senior library assistant at HMP Parc in Bridgend, about sending a donation of our books.
The prison frequently run family days as a way of encouraging the bond between a father or grandparent and their children. The library team support these events by creating a display of appropriate books for children to choose from and take home to enjoy. The children absolutely love being able to choose a title to keep. The staff try and make it both a fun and educational display with leaflets exploring the benefits of reading, as well as book character colouring sheets and puzzles.
We were very glad to be able to help! We sent a box of various titles including Sarah’s Shadow and One Night in Beartown by Nick Jones and Emma Sandford‘s three books from the Sumatran Trilogy. We hope that the children enjoy our books when they visit the prison! Thanks to HMP Parc Library for the opportunity to help, especially at Christmas.
